October 19th, 2017

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Aevolo is pleased to announce Nick McKey to the 2018 roster. Hailing from Grandville Michigan, McKey is a freshman at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado studying environmental studies.

McKey’s accomplishments this past season include sixth place at the Junior Nationals Time Trial (17-18) and fourth in the road race. He also claimed seventh in the criterium. Over in Europe, McKey placed a solid third place at Genk Kermesse at the end of May.

“For the upcoming year I want to do whatever orders come my way, and execute them in the fullest and most successful way possible,’ McKey said. “I’m also looking forward to any time trialing and breakaway opportunities that may present themselves along the way. I’m also really looking forward to being part of a team surrounded by an entire squad that has one goal in mind and the friendships and bonds that come with that, as well the challenges that making the huge jump in racing level will bring throughout the year.”

McKey grew up as an inline speed skater with his sister and three best friends and credits them, along with his parents and coach, for instilling mental toughness and work ethic that has brought him where he is today. His bike racing career began in 2011 with the Andrie Machinestar Junior Development Team, based out of the West Michigan area.

You can find McKey tending to his cacti garden in his spare time.

“I find it to be one of the most mindful, beautiful and rewarding hobbies I’ve ever taken up.”
