June 21st, 2023

Aevolo Cycling came to the U23 Criterium National Championships with a determination to win the coveted Stars & Stripes jersey. The athletes rode an attacking race, with efforts by Evan Boyle, Quinn Felton, Sean Christian and Toby Klein continually loosening up the field and drawing out the contenders who had similar dreams of donning the champion's garment. For them, however, the dreams were futile as the cohesion and power of the Aevolo guys set up season 2023's breakout sprinter, Brody McDonald for a convincing win from Gavin Hlady (Mikes Bikes p/b Equator) and Ian Williams (Expeditors Cycling).
Brody has enjoyed a successful season in North America and Europe, with Podium Finishes at Tour of Rhodes, Omloop der Kempen and Koers Lutlommel, as well as stints in the Best Young Rider jersey in Greece and at Redlands Cycling Classic. But the Stars & Stripes win is a highlight "Felt good to bring that one home. Wouldn't have been possible without the ridiculously strong team around me. Wished for more in the Road Race but proud to wear the Stars and Stripes for a year."

After 4 consecutive National Road Race Titles for Aevolo with Alex Hoehn, Lance Haidet, Sean McElroy and Cooper Johnson, the pressure was on for the Aevolo riders during the 174 km U23 Road Race on the outskirts of Roanoke, Virginia. In the finale it was Toby Klein, fresh off his stage win at Volta Castello in Spain the previous week, who launched at the base of the final 800m drag to the line. Only Owen Cole (Velocious Sport) and Colby Simmons (Lotto Jumbo Development) were able to come around him, giving Toby a valiant Bronze in a hard fought race.

A stunning result for one of the freshest faces in the peloton at USA Cycling U23 Individual Time Trial. Evan Boyle's raw talent and work output capacity was uncovered as he scorched the tarmac to a scintillating 2nd behind Viggo Moore (Israel Premier Tech) and ahead of 2022 Road Champion ad Aevolo Alumni Cooper Johnson (Axeon Hagens Berman).

This week, the squad doubles down at USA Cycling Professional Road Championships in Knoxville, TN. Follow us on Instagram for updates as they happen.
