PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE: AEVOLO TRAINING CAMP

March 3rd-13th,  2018

OXNARD, Calif. – Picturesque training roads, an animated volleyball game and plenty of Mario Kart. With so much going on, 10 days at training camp seemed to fly by. Last week, the Aevolo team based its second camp at Port Hueneme where many riders braved the not-so-warm ocean temperatures after long, tough training sessions.

“Team camps always act as a great catalyst for both fitness and team camaraderie,” Jason Saltzman said. “Our SoCal camp was no different with multiple hard days leaving us collectively shattered. Easy access to the beach and Alex (Hoehn’s) Mario Kart system providing the off the bike entertainment.”

Each day, the team went off into the Ventura roads together, sometimes for hill intervals, time trial practice on their new Cannondale machines or a short spin to a coffee shop. In the evening, the two team houses took turns cooking a group dinner and reviewing tomorrow’s plan. Camp was also a revolving door of reporters, sponsor representatives from GU Energy and Cannondale and a US Anti-Doping Agency presentation.

Despite the busy schedule, the team still found quiet time to work on school work, as well as memorize each other’s birthdate and birthplace, an impromptu competition first conquered by recent birthday boy Tyler Stites.
