EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN IN FULL SWING: A TRAVERS LES HAUTS de FRANCE WRAP UP

Sep 13th,  2021

The Aevolo team's European campaign is in full swing, with Travers les Hauts de France in the books first. Over the course past three days, the team saw their share of ups and downs during in the "heights of France" but ultimately came away from the experience motivated for more challenges on European roads.

"The race was good overall," Creed said. "I think for our first stage race in Europe, it could have gone a lot worse. Obviously, we didn't win, but we were in contention, and if a few things went right we could have seen better results as far as stage wins. Even with those things not going right, the guys did great, and that's a really good track. Sometimes you don't want a bunch of good luck to get finishers in the group. A lot of times, we had some bad luck and still finished really strong. That's a good thing."

The race was aggressive. On the first stage, Scott McGill claimed the king of the mountains jersey after scooping up max points on all the classified climbs in the breakaway. He lost the jersey the following day, but McGill still finished a commendable 13th overall and top American.

"Travers was a good first stage race over here for us," McGill said. "Although the results might not show it, we rode well as a team and were very close to pulling off some big results."

"I'm really proud of the boys," Creed said. "We have about four or five races left, I know we'll finish up this trip strong."
