AEVOLO 2023 SANTA MONICA CAMP

Feb 27th, 2023

Aevolo Class of 2023 wrapped up a successful 12 Days of Pre-Season Camp ensconced in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. The lads each completed over 1200kms and a hefty 20000m of elevation as they dialed in their pre season fitness, challenged each other on the local climbs, and enhanced their abilities as team mates and solid young athletes.

A range of activities were encouraged by the Team Staff led by Sports Director Michael Creed, including random Daily Sprint Bonifications, sharing of team building responsibilities as well as a points merit and demerit system leading to the awarding of the 2023 CAMP CHAMP Belt, ultimately won by Toby Klein in a close final challenge battle from Leo Gullickson and Quinn Felton. The final, tie- breaking challenge? The most emphatic recital of WWF Wrestler Ric Flair's infamous 1980's ring entry "limousine-ridin', jet-flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin', son-of-a-gun" proclamation. A long time Aevolo battle cry!

For those who aren't familiar with our 2023 Line Up, here they are:

Evan Boyle
Sean Christian
Quinn Felton
Leo Gullickson
Tobias Klein
Brody McDonald
Gabriel Shipley
Xander White
Brooks Wienke

Information about each rider can be viewed on the www.aevolocycling.org website, including how they arrived at this point of their cycling development, as well as details about their aspirations and intentions for the 2023 season.

The Aevolo squad were also joined by a number of espoir "hopefuls" who will join the team at selected events in 2023 when the Team is running a double program of racing in Europe and the USA.

The fleet of 2023 Cannondale Super Six and System Six bikes were dialed in by the mechanics led by Chief Mechanic Gary Bavolar, allowing the riders to have access to their choice of race bikes in both Europe and the USA, as well as a training bike at home. Suffice to say, the riders have access to race proven, cutting edge & familiar equipment in each race scenario they find themselves in this season.

Daily nutrition was provided by Caitlin Laroche Creed, who used her culinary skills to concoct a variety of healthy food options that ensured the riders were adequately fueled for their endeavors, whilst Ali Burton provided post ride body work and massage.

Assistant Sports Directors Marc Gullickson and Jono Coulter helped Creed with observing the riders on their training routes while prepping for upcoming racing blocks, and OG mechanic Vince Gee was joined by Brendan in fine tuning their training and race builds.

Today, the staff leaves for Rhodes, Greece ahead of the athletes who will contest the upcoming UCI events:
March 4-5 Visit South Aegean Islands UCI 2.2
March 11 Rhodes Grand Prix
March 16-19 Tour of Rhodes
