The Aevolo cycling team has converged in North Carolina to compete in the Winston Salem Cycling Classic, to be held over Memorial Day weekend.

The event features one of only two UCI category 1.1 road races in the U.S., as well as USA Cycling Pro Road Tour (PRT) and USA Crit Series criterium races.
 
Michael Hernandez said he’s anxious to the start line in Winston Salem after suffering a crash while wearing the best young rider jersey at USA Crits Speedweek in April.
 
"I am really excited to partake in Winston Salem this year” Hernandez said. “This is another race that I have not competed in. I'm also excited to race in the only one day UCI race left in the U.S. and participate in a USA Crits series race with a full squad.”
 
“My hand isn't fully healed yet but is fully functional after some athletic tape is applied. It was a bummer, but I'm more motivated now to get back to racing and show it isn't going to slow me down."
 
Luis Villalobos is also returning to race with the team in North Carolina.
 
“After Redlands, I came back home to recover and train hard,” Villalobos said. I’m feeling ready after getting sick in Redlands and not giving a good result, but it helped me to prepare a good training. I feel like I will give a good result for me and for my teammates at Winston Salem.”
 
Both races will be streamed live online, visit winstonsalemcycling and USACrits for details on how to watch. The Saturday evening criterium begins 6:30pm EDT and the Monday UCI road race starts at 2:15pm.
