AEVOLO RELEASES ROSTER FOR TOUR OF THE GILA
May 1st, 2019
The Aevolo cycling team heads to Silver City, New Mexico with a strong roster ready to compete in the 33rdedition of the Tour of the Gila, one of the most challenging and enduring UCI stage races in North America.
“With powerhouses like Rally with Rob Britton and Sepp Kuss not present this year, the field is a lot more wide open,” Aevolo Team Director Mike Creed said. “That gives guys like Luis Villalobos, Alex Hoehn and Tyler Stites an opportunity to ride a really solid GC. We’ve always missed out on a top 10 overall here, but hopefully this is the year that changes."
From May 1 to the 5, the team will take on the traditional road race routes around the Gila National Forest that make this race so special, including the 14.5-mile Tyrone Individual Time Trial and the Downtown Silver City Criterium. Stage 1 will finish atop the Mogollon Climb,
U23 road race champion Alex Hoehn and Tyler Stites, recently selected by USA Cycling to compete at the Amgen Tour of California, will take the start line along with Mexican Time Trial champion Luis Villalobos, Costa Rican climber Gabriel Rojas, Lance Haidet, Michael Hernandez and Andrew Vollmer.
Throughout the week, Aevolo will bring updates through all social media channels, including daily race recaps. The race’s official hashtag is #Gila2019.
